We all know nuts should be part of a healthy diet. They are high in protein, contain fibre, antioxidants and minerals. However for some they can cause tummy upset and digestive disturbances. Can activation be the answer?
What is activation?
Soaking nuts and seeds in filtered water to release enzyme inhibitors and bring them to life, making all the nutrients available.
Activation or the commonly known sprouting process is followed by ‘dehydration’ at very low temperatures.
Activated nuts and seeds are said to allow for greater nutrient absorption and therefore enhance digestion.
Try activating your nuts at home, as purchasing activated nuts will be noticeably expensive.
Soak nuts in water and add some salt. (1-2 teaspoons)
Soak for 7-14hours depending on the nut.
Strain and place on baking paper in the oven (or dehydrator) on low heat for 12-24hrs.
Make sure they are totally dry to avoid them going moldy.
Place in airtight container and store.
